This weekend, Sharing the Victory features 3 people who were honored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at this year’s Men’s and Women’s Final Four.
Hubert Davis, recipient of the John Wooden “Keys to Life” award, gives credit to God for allowing him to play basketball in college and the NBA and now commentating on basketball for ESPN despite growing up with a speech impediment.
Next, we’ll hear a portion of a speech given by longtime North Carolina State women’s basketball coach Kay Yow. Yow was speaking at a breakfast given in her honor at the Final Four. She talks about how God has given her the strength to battle cancer on 3 different occasions.
Also, former Rice head coach Willis Wilson, who was honored with the John Lotz “Barnabas” award, says he has experienced tremendous growth in his walk with the Lord despite suffering through a tumultuous final season with the Owls.
And in “Coach’s Corner,” former NFL coach and FCA President Les Steckel, gives some examples of perfection in sports. But can there be perfection in the game of life? Coach Steckel will share with us his thoughts.
Last Week's Program
On this Mother’s Day weekend Sharing the Victory makes a tribute to moms with a sports twist.
Ron Brown kicks the program off by interviewing Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. The Florida Gators quarterback talks about how his mother helped to influence and shape his life. He also encourages mothers to never give up on their children.
Later in the program, Brown turns the tables by interviewing Tim’s mom, Pam. Pam talks about how she and her husband raised Tim and their other children under Biblical principles. She also tells the gripping story of how she was encouraged to abort Tim because of pregnancy complications but instead, risked her own life to give birth to Tim.
Also, Julie Nimmons, President of Schutt Sports and the Vice-Chairwoman of FCA’s National Board, discusses the power of prayer. She describes how prayer helped her daughter and granddaughter through a very difficult situation.
And in "Coach’s Corner," FCA President Les Steckel, gives his own tribute to moms.
